Q1. Name & role
A1. Courtenay Rogers, WCDP Vice Chair
Q2. When & why did you become involved with the WCDP?
A2. I ran for office in 2016 and wanted to stay engaged with the local party. I'm not afraid to be a loud, bold and proud Democrat so it just made sense to stay engaged. In 2020, I stepped up to fill the role of treasurer when there was an absence and I was compelled to run for vice chair in 2021. I truly believe one person can make a difference and I wanted to try.
Q3. What are the responsibilities of your role? If you were describing it for a volunteer so they know what to expect if they step up, what would you tell them?
A3. The Vice-Chair serves as the right hand to the chair and fills necessary gaps in leadership roles. I personally helped organize our filing system, and documentation and created the yearly schedule. For events like fundraisers and the reorganization, I ensure that we follow the guidelines and get proper documentation to the TNDP. I attend all EC meetings and volunteer as much as possible. In 2022, I helped the vice chair recruit and train candidates for numerous elections.
Q4. What is your day job/other volunteer work/family responsibilities, to give folks a sense of time management?
A4. I'm a small business owner and sit on 2 non profit boards. I also have a teenager and we stay busy.
Q5. How much time per week do you spend helping the WCDP? Are there any issues balancing responsibilities that we could work on as an organization?
A5. I spend 10-20 hours a month. When I can't attend, the rest of the leadership team covers.
Q6. What do you enjoy most about your role/involvement with the WCDP?
A6. I've met some of my absolute dearest friends through the WCDP.
Q7. What is your vision for the WCDP in the next 2 years?
A7. Keep running great candidates at every level! We can't win if we don't run.
Q8. Who is your favorite Democrat or political role model?
A8. Senator Charlane Oliver is a force of nature. She is a perfect example of a woman who does the work in our community every single day. She's transparent, straight forward, bold and a powerful voice!
